The true/false quiz monster
Anyone remember him? He seemed to pop up randomly, especially in the patch of woods outside of Dali. He would ask a true/false question related to something ingame. Like for example, he asked what ship of port was the theatre ship was made in. I myself found him as more of an annoyance than anything, because when he appeared I had stop whatever I was doing and look up the answer to his question on GameFaqs or something. If you got the question correct, you got a valuable ingame item. Got it wrong? He disappeared.

I wonder if there will be a way to manipulate his appearances so that you can answer all of his questions at once. I'd rather do his minigame and get it over with, instead of being taken by surprise while I am grinding. If anyone can make a mod to deal with him, please do so. It will be much appriciated.

For all the criticism the guide book comes in for, it was very useful for the answers to his questions.

Actually the guidebook just has a blurb telling you to look at the Playonline Site to get information on Ragtime Mouse(the quizmoster)

Someone got offended by my strategy guide rant, I see. You must have loved wasting your money and time on it. Because peeling away from a game to look up an answer on a website back in 2000 on a personal computer was a huge convenience and totally what I bought that strategy guide for. The fact that the helpful information the website displayed is no longer available draws my ire even more. Despite the money Square Enix must have saved, the guide still cost consumers around the same amount of money as any other strategy guide. I wish your reply had of been more useful, but instead you had to go and...

At the time those crappy guide books seemed a waste of money but the ones I have now I am glad of because they are kind of like a souvenir of my time spent in the world.

Brady was pretty much a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ publisher for strategy guides; wrong information based on older builds of the game, information missing (They didn't even give a damn strategy for beating the final boss in Parasite Eve 2), etc. That guide for FF9 was probably the worst thing ever from what I found out about it.

Anyway, unlike the guide, this FAQ http://www.ign.com/faqs/2004/final-fantasy-ix-ragtime-mouse-faq-445938 tells us that Ragtime Mouse appeards randomly in any forest and there is no (known) way to force his appearance. I mysefl have encountered him in forest on all continents of the FF IX world.
And yes I sometimes found him quite annoying as well.
Legato 2016 年 1 月 23 日 下午 1:32
If I remember right, you can almost force an encounter with him if you tap in a direction barely, and keep tapping. It could be superstition, but I doubt it'll hurt to try.

the ragtime mouse is his name. and you have a chance to encounter him in any forest
Luminium 2016 年 1 月 23 日 下午 2:12
Though I think his name was mistranslated. "Ragtime Mouth" would make more sense, given his entire head is one giant mouth.
The Combat Medic 2016 年 1 月 23 日 下午 2:56
Now that gets me wondering....will the names be fixed or are they going to be the same as the original PS1 version?

Would be nice to be able to name Amarant as "Salamander", if they give us more letters to use.

Nobody cares about anything you have ever written. The guidebook was universally panned. You were no the first person with that opinion.

that is actually correct BUT you can only do the ragtime mouse so many times per disc before he wont show up anymore for that disc

So what if you don't catch him on one disc... do the questions roll over or are they gone?
