FINAL FANTASY IX

20GB available space required?
Does this mean that the total download size of this game would be nearly 20gb?
The total file size of the ps1 version is about 2-3gb but this one is 20gb.
The filesize of the remastered FF7 and FF8 on steam is less than 5gb so I'm thinking what's the essence of the 20GB?

Square better put something new and useful on this port that's worth 20GB because they f**ked up on FFXIII with 60GB of total download size.

The store page shows HD FMV video and high-res models. I'm sure the FMV is a huge chunk of that filesize alone. Anything after that is speculation. Maybe it's that weird Launcher thing Square puts in all the Final Fantasy ports up to this point? We won't know until the game launches and we can poke about in the files.

Its 2016, if you still care about the size of your games, you should get a job to afford a bigger drive.

Maybe it's a typo. I didn't notice any notes about "steam cloud needs to be activated" or "square enix account needed" so that's a plus for me. (or maybe...they forgot to add it)

I agree, who doesn't have at least 1TB now a days? 20gb is chump change.

It's probably the download size that's a problem. It's not as easy as getting a job and not being a chump when you've got a cap on your internet. So drop the pathetic attitude.

Anybody can afford big drive but not pricey internet. 20GB in some area in countries like Asia cost $200

Its not 20 GB to download. You always download the compressed files, then it gets unpacked on your drive. Stop being stupid, internet.

The game looks the same really tho. HD on ♥♥♥♥ gfx is still ♥♥♥♥ gfx only cleaner lines. And they fkd up on FFXIII cuz that whole series sucks ass. No open world to explore was the biggest hate-feeder...not much of a FF game imo. I understand they felt the genre needed a change to appeal to the masses but most of us liked the way it was. Even FFXII had a better idea. This is just my opinion and i realize it doesnt matter. lol. Just sayin pretty much done with Squeenix games. I guess in a world where ONLY money matters to anyone, it was bound to happen.

Square Enix account isn't mentioned on the Final Fantasy 7 Steam page either, but still requires one. I'm holding off buying until I know for sure. Worst case scenario, we still have refunds.

True, but we're talking about a game that's just silly polygons and still images, not even the remasters of Resident Evil reach 20gb.

I'm with the guy, it's a lot of wasted storage if it ends to be that size.

Easy to say when some countries downloading games of that size/using that much internet is an issue... and that includes parts of the US and Canada.

Additionally 20GB is al ot of storage. I got like what? Somewhere between 400 to 600 PC games and roughly 4TB of internal storage across my 4 drives, and I don't have enough room to probably install the larger half of those games

I don't think FF VII or VIII were any bigger than 3GB; I think up to 10GB makes sense with all these remastered assets and FMV, but 20GB... there's either a gigantic amount of HD assets or there's poorly managed space in regards to the creation of this PC port.
lols. Storage size isn't a problem to me. The only thing that bothers me is the download size. The maximum download speed I can get is 256 KBps which would take me at least 1 day + some hours to download 18gb+ files.

And oh if you would look at the game you can only see the difference on the characters itself and you won't think that it will take up to 20GB of filesize considering the previous remastered version of FF8 and FF7.
