When does the game actually start?
I'm at about 10 hours of game play and it's so slow. The story keeps switching between the Princess/Steiner and Zidane's party. I'm getting real bored of going through generic dungeons, fighting easy bosses and then switching back to the other party. It just seems to never end. The story as well is pretty bad and I'm yet to find a part of it I like.

I feel like it's one long intro and I'm yet to be free to choose my party. When does it start?

You’re already playing it. If you don’t like it may as well quit.

You don't get to change your party until around the end of disc 2, meaning for most of the early game, you'll be sticking with the same party members for quite a long time.

I don't want to quit the game as I can't refund it and I feel like it may get better? I'm just really finding it hard to enjoy when it goes back and forth between the parties. It's being really dragged out and the story is taking it's time to get started as well. It's not like other FF games where you know who you enemies after quickly. In this game it's a bunch of minor 'bad' characters that I feel aren't the real main bad guy.

I dunno man, you say other final fantasies but party switching has been a major narrative tool of the series since FF4. Nor does that really have anything to do with a story’s pace.

Have you hit Burmecia yet? If so then you’ve got where the plot really has kicked into high gear.

Get your act together dude, this is the best FF out there, the game starts when you crash in the forest, anything before that was a tutorial, there's a ton of stuff to do in the game, if you want a harder experience don't stay for long in any given area, at some point in a certain tunnel game will be supper hard if you rush things.

While you play, give as much attention to the soundtrack as to the gameplay, it was uematsu's best work during his life, it's simply magnificent.

The soundtrack is pretty bland imo. I was expecting more but not a single song stands out to me so far. I've found myself muting some areas as they are giving me a headache.

Honestly I'm starting to wonder if this is a troll post.

The party splits up multiple times throughout the game. Even in the late game, you'll be controlling different characters at a time. It's similar to FF6 in the sense that it isn't really about a single character so much as it is about the group of characters, so the plot has them split up often to facilitate this.
