Yes, it's a fantastic mod
YES!

I played through this 3 ways. I have the original game on PS1. I then played it on an emulator with shader and resolution enhancements. Then I tried this mod. The background graphics and 60 FPS will blow you away. I don't care for all the cheats, and you can just leave them turned off, but there is a way to make battles faster, increasing difficulty. I highly recommend using the install guide on Steam; it's a little more involved than some mods.

Cool. I've played all of them through XIII (even the online XI) but I haven't played any of the newer ones. I really liked FF IX when it came out, mainly because I thought VIII was a letdown from VII. The only thing with the Moguri mod that is worse is the world map stutters, and it didn't on vanilla. So I'm going to mess with the world map FPS in the ini and see if that helps.

I put so many years of my life into FFXI, the devs were too good at keeping you hooked

It's a great mod that is easy to install and improves the look of the game many times over. Combine this with Memoria Patcher and you have 60 FPS gameplay as well as some QOL additions like 100% steal rate, which is vital if you ask me.

Its not an exaggeration to say I've probably beaten this game hundreds of times, when it launched, I used to start a new game every few days. It's hands down the best soundtrack in the series, and that keeps me coming back after all these years. I've played on PSone original discs, PSone "greatest hits" discs, the psp digital download, the PS3 digital download, the PS4 remaster, and the PC remaster with Moguri.

PC remaster with Moguri is 100% the definitive and best way to enjoy Final Fantasy IX. Honestly Moguri is so well done that it SHOULD be considered an official add-on, but it's square so that'll never happen.

How do you play this 60fps because the combat speed and animations are linked to the baseline 20ish fps of the PSX.

I mean the animations in combat basically have frame skips built into them to accommodate the low output the PlayStation 1 had, they are not fluid no matter the fps or did they change something?

Moguri has a self installer, you don't really need to jump through any hoops to set it up. You just download it, run it, and wait. No idea on Steam deck though.

Thanks brother. I am still a novice with modding so this will help out a lot. It broke my heart how lazy SE was with the port, but I'll probably replay it with these mods then. :zagwow:

all game companies and their re-releases have been garbage
only ones that kind of werent, were the spyro and crash trilogy remakes
but every single other i have seen was hot trash
the ninja gaiden one, GTA trilogy pack, warcraft 3 reforged
tomb raider, jak and daxter, RE 1 2 3 4 remakes, last of us was a scam really
almost any square re-drop has been bad

summoner and eternal ring too
WhateverWorks Feb 22, 2024 @ 5:30am
All the square remasters have been fantastic, but haters are always going to hate. Spyro was top tier as well, Crash is...OK. The Crash remaster is visually beautiful yes, but it doesn't handle at all how the original did. The platforming itself isn't the same in terms of jump times and hitboxes. A lot of "remasters" are in fact scams, but plenty of them are huge upgrades over the originals.

I can't imagine playing FF9 without Moguri Mod. It's so good that it's basically the definitive way to play the game right now.
