Almost cry to be played at the start screen...
It's been over ten years since I played FFIX but I can still remember the raw emotion each song brings. All the feelings come flooding back whenever you listen. It's almost like opening a picture book and watching memories play across your childhood. This is great.
The FFIX Boss theme is among the best in the entire series, Dark Messenger is excellent. Jesters is fun and quirky. Terra is whimsical and distant. The chocobo music is stellar. The song during the Hunt is iconic. I can remember every event in the Village of Dali when I first got there and its faithful music. I love this OST.
A Place to Call Home always nearly brings a tear to my eye too (but I always hold it back). Rose of May (Loss of Me) is definitely my favorite song in the entire game. The emotion packed behind Beatrix and her eventual plot going the direction it did was fantastic. I remember first hearing Rose of May as a kid and just not playing. I just put the controller down and let that beautiful song loop.
Special props to the epic 18 minute medley posted earlier. That guy is talented.
This really makes you realize how important a great OST is.
It's a shame that a lot of games have songs but they rarely have music.
It's a pity I don't like the Distant Worlds version very much. It has this annoying (to me) 'fluttering' melody in the background I quite dislike, and reminds me of a "The Little Engine that Could" cartoon my nephew used to watch over and over when he was little...
I love the Festival of the Hunt song too.
Black mage village is among my favorites, as its catchy as hell (but most themes are in 9). Hunters chance would probably be up there too.
Sorry i don't know how to insert a video
Ps.The South Gate Border is beautiful too.
Just go in to the video on youtube you want to show and copy/paste the youtube web adress in here
