Just a random question, but how does this hold up to the ps1 version, is it worth buying if youve got the original on hand?

at the moment i prefer the ps1 version. if they fix all the problems maybe the steam version, but i'm not sure about this

It has some higher-res textures on certain character models, aside from that there isn't much difference other than achievements. If your original PS1 copy still works then there isn't that much of a need to buy this, at least at the current asking price.

If you have the original then I'd stick with it honestly. This isn't the worst port in the FF lineup but I'd wait for more mods to come out to fix some of the issues before diving in.

If you have a ps1 and discs, play it!!!! Unless you want the cheats and other pointless crap. They have made very minor changes. I say play what you've got.

I would say play the PS1 version if you have it, although I am enjoying the mouse system on this one :)

Whether or not it's worthwhile if you have original is up to you though. I do and I still got the PC version.
You might want to wait for a sale or not bother at all

i played original ps1 version long ago, and this is definitely even tastier Masterpiece than before, i am blown away with hd graphics, and add 'cloud' with achievements

It will be extremely hard for me to go back to psx version because of the amazing fast forward toggle.

This version hands down. Beautiful 3d models, crisp text and reduced loading times. Not to mentions the amazing FMVs.

for those who do care - here you can skip FMVs just by pressing two buttons
no need to do that "open - close" thing if you're going for Rusty's best sword quest

I Prefer this version, I am playing the PS1 version with an emulator, but this version is great. But I disliked the boosters.... Always 9999 damage with ANYTHING is a cheat!!!!

the only thing I am missing here is the option, to give character controls to another controller. Back in the day, you could play the battles with 2 players. This option is missing in this port unfortunately
