Are you literally running this on a toaster? This game runs fine on netbooks from 2010.

960. The battle runs slow

The battles will always run "slow" the battle FPS was low in the PS1 version.
FandreiosAner Apr 16, 2016 @ 7:22pm
It doesn't run "slow". 3D Battles were rendered in 15FPS back in the PS One era, that includes FF7 and 8. That's hard-coded into the game. It would take massive effort for a modder to find a way around that wihout screwing up the timer. The 3D remakes on NDS had that too.

It really isn't needed. The game is a jrpg and ran the same way if not worse on the PS1.

Just used the turbo feature by hitting F1

excuse me
anyone else not remember ANY of the other titles of FF that were re released and MODS had to fix the battle in EACH ONE?
no?
well it can be done just because it wasnt originally that doesnt mean it should slug down soooooo slow in battle
gave me a headache playing it on my neighbors pc, he finally refunded it due to the lag in battle causing headache (literally hurts the head)

so there is a way to get this game to run faster in battle and no its not like this on ps1
ive played it the battle is much smoother

low fps but everything matches and runs the same vs this dung,
im shocked no mods have come from the other FF games to patch this up yet..
shocked..

turbo feature? isnt that a cheat option?

hrmm

anyway look at the older FF games revamps, look at the mods(tons of em) most are about battle speed being sooo slow, and they fix this.. soooo where is the fix

(pls no trolling that this is how it was on ps1 so this is how it is on pc)
i even had the pleasure of seeing battle on an android and its much faster (but much smaller)
so smaller = faster wtf

ughh but please people stop saying just because this game was ps1, it should maintain this sluggish battle.
as again this was modded in almost every FF port to date now..
minus this one

like this

https://www.reddit.com/r/FinalFantasy/comments/34n2xg/ffiv_pc_patch_to_fix_low_fps_during_battle_xpost/

almost every FF game has this sort of fix.. period.
unsure why its not existing for this game, tis terrible,
if it wasnt for this battle lag which seems to occur in every FF port.. id buy the game right now.

someone mod this speed pls!

"I made a quick mod to Final Fantasy IV to make the in-battle speed 25fps instead of the default 15. The reason I chose 25 rather than 30 is because (as of yet) there's no way I've found to increase FPS while at the same time maintain the battle speed, so 25fps is a bit of a compromise."

That's the key part you missed. Indeed you can increase the fps during battle, but that also means that the speed of the battle itself will also increase since the framerate is hard-coded into the time limiter. Basically, you can go up as much as 60fps in battle and whatever you want, but it will look like you are hitting fast forward during a movie.

Other games suffer from this too, like Tales of Zestiria which was 30fps at all times, and the guy that could pull off 60fps gameplay couldn't make it perfect, because it screw ups one section of the game making it impossible to advance further from that point on wihout deactivating the mod itself. Again, it can be possible, but you need someone skilled that can properly do this, instead of changing some hex value into the exe and calling it a day.

tales is a great example

durante and kaldien worked hard, esp kaldien,
im hoping they fix this game,
as the rest have been fixed

i dont mind low fps but when its so laggy it hurts ones head wellll..

I think few of us said what needed to be said. You speed up the FPS in battle, you break the time limiter. It was 15FPS in the PS1 game for a reason, so that it didn't overclock the console. The fact they kept it in 15FPS in the PC port is to emulate that experience, otherwise, the game's battle system would have to be reprogrammed. The only thing that ran at 60FPS on the PS1 game during battle was the menu and status overlay.

or..
use that mod for time on exc to go away (not the first one that removed time out of the game)
but yea speed up boost will effect time played

but use that.. ignore excal and if ur die hard youll get it ..
