EXCALIBUR II Let's talk about it !
I am no cheater & i don't want these booster options. My pleasure will be to make that perfect team on my own, but almost 15 y ago, i gave up with this excalibur II thing, getting to 4th cd in such short time would ruin the pleasure and i didn't wanna sacrifice that. But still the bitter taste in my mouth is still there (the one of having a 99% completed game)
SO !
Guys is there any way to get excalibur II on CD4 without having to rush the ♥♥♥♥ of the game under 12 hours? Like editing the game clock on the save or idk, can anyone know about it or do something for this ?

Slowly enjoying the game is fine, and if it's your first time through, you should do that. Excalibur II is not intended to be obtained in a first playthrough. It's supposed to add replay value to the game.

I am going through the game normally for now. Once I am finished I am probably gonna play it again with lvl 99 booster and all to get it.

Excalibur II is for second or third playthroughs, I ignored it on my first and got it on my second.

A sword you have to rush through 99% of the game for so you can use it for the last 5 minutes before it gets taken away? I'll pass.

Not true at all. There's plenty of non-missable side content to go back and do when you have it.
I've never gotten Excalibur II and I never will as I hate rushing through Final Fantasy games. Skip everything else to get one good weapon for one character, so you can kill last few bosses + maybe Ozma easier. Lamest way to get a super weapon in all FF games imo :/

Funny thing is, it was pretty much impossible to get in psx PAL-version back then due unskippable cutscenes.

No matter how you look at it, getting Excalibur II is more of an "achievement" like you get on steam, rather than being actually useful. It doesn't bring anything new except for highest raw damage output, which is capped at 9999... which is very easily attainable with other swords. Granted, you won't get 9999 damage in back row (without long range) with other weapons, but if you can get that sword legit, you know the game enough that the extra 2000 damage with your regular attacks won't make a difference.

Except for the looks of the sword, which is very cool, I always thought that Excalibur II is a pointless item. Nothing unique about it. If the sword gave you something like a fixed damage of 9999 or a double hit, or a unique ability impossible to get anywhere else in the game, then sure, I would change my opinion.

I'm in the "Excalibur II: Electric Boogaloo is useless" camp. It doesn't even teach a unique ability (though kinda thankful for that, otherwise teaching Steiner all his abilities would be a no-go for me)
I've never even tried optaining that useless piece of metal since thegame was first released. I don't do speed runs.

First thing that came to mind. Hilarious.

I've only ever had the patience to beat FF9 once. Got sidetracked literally every other time because up until now this game took forever to get through for me.

I get distracted easil--WHATS THAT SHINY THING

It's been a LONG time since I last played FF9 but I could have sworn there was a second way to get the Excalibur II. I thought there was a way to get it at Daguerreo? My memory must be playing tricks on me. Maybe it was that I'd found other items which enabled you to learn the rest of Steiner's abilities so I felt I no longer needed the Excalibur II.

I'm going to dig out my PSOne tomorrow to check as I was sure I got it eventually - I know I couldn't be bothered to try to speed through my PAL version. I don't understand how you could be strong enough to beat the bosses without level grinding.

Edit: It was Excalibur I at Daguerreo, so probably not!

There's no way in the vanilla game to get the sword other than speed running.

However, a tool exists called Hades Workshop that allows you to edit the timer in the game to anything you want (or even remove it) you could put the sword in a shop or synthesis shop too if you wanted :D
