EXCALIBUR II Let's talk about it !
I am no cheater & i don't want these booster options. My pleasure will be to make that perfect team on my own, but almost 15 y ago, i gave up with this excalibur II thing, getting to 4th cd in such short time would ruin the pleasure and i didn't wanna sacrifice that. But still the bitter taste in my mouth is still there (the one of having a 99% completed game)
SO !
Guys is there any way to get excalibur II on CD4 without having to rush the ♥♥♥♥ of the game under 12 hours? Like editing the game clock on the save or idk, can anyone know about it or do something for this ?

There are two ways: The first is getting to it in under 12 hours, the second is letting the timer tick over (which takes 2 years, 8 months, 21 h 41 min 19,98 sec on the PS1 version of the game). However, the PC port runs so much faster, loading times don't exist, FMV's can be instantly skipped, and the boosters can help with the RNG segments of the challenge.

The challenge is so much more completable in this version, so if you want Ex II but still want to enjoy the game, play through it slowly once or twice, then take on the challenge! So far I've found it really easy to beat the target times.

I opened the PSX cover to skip cutscene, got it in 9hr 47min. Dunno if you can skip on PC, because I still thinking whether to buy.

Can skip on PC very quickly, faster than PSX. Also there is next to zero loading time between screens and that annoying flyover introduction to encounters can be disabled.

You're no cheater but you're looking for a way to cheat the clock? Well unfortunately, you just have to rush to 4th disc which means you won't be able to build your dream team. Just make do with what you got and thankfully you can skip cutscenes reliably.

Lol right? The irony is laughable. XD

It's actually easy to do, if you're not interested in the story on this playthrough.

Thank you for your help. It is a pleasure gaining knowledge from you. I will try 8hr 47min this time.

You can mod the clock, i did it when i got the Excalibur II while cheating the clock.
Probably the only cheat ive ever used and enjoyed lol.

Never gonna make the effort to get it otherwise anyway, but someone will have to make a mod here for this.

I legitimately think you could get Ex II with a perfect game in under 10 hours with the performance improvements on the PC version

hmm yeah, i think this sword is just here for well the achievment, i don't even care about that. It's known that ragnarok will do the same work regarding of efficiency. I just wanted to see it in game, like jus the skin you know. Without having to ruin my pleasure.

I tried once on PS1, i stoped @CD2 when i realized i didn have any fun of it.
I love harsh stuff (im 30yr old still playing CS,Dota 2, ended all dark souls, finished other FF at 100% with 200hr games, never playing on normal always above, finished x-com2 legend & commander without cheats) but not sacrifying pleasure of a whole save/game just for one piece of skin, weapon that doesn't even weight in the power balance (was mentionning Ragnarok sword is as good as this one). I really don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about achievements part, i just want to see it. So far, that's the only exemple i have of a game that require you to sacrify your experience for an item. if possible i would not like to have to start one game to rush and skip all what i like in the game so i can see excalibur II and one other game to appreciate it

Anyways ppl seems to say it's easy with pc version, i will give a try but i know it ll ruin my game exp

Excalibur II is such a silly challenge. I did it once way back in the day, but I didn't enjoy the playthrough at all.

It wasn't even tough, it was just strict.

I'll probably edit my clock once I've beaten it on Steam, just to get the achievement.

I've been unable to do it up until now because I only had it on PAL and PS1 console - although my best time was 14:02:09, which, if you convert to NTSC time is enough to reach the Ex II. Hence I'll be trying to lead the way in terms of Ex II perfect game on this version on FFIX

If you followed the guide, didn't maintain low level and opened all those chest you will get around 11hr 30min.
For me I only open chests that contains missable equipment and equipment for my main party. I don't watch QTE, don't play card game, don't do side quest. It was meant to see how much time buffer the game actually allowed and how fast the storyline is. In the end, I didn't bother with perfect save file because I've tried the skipping rope minigame and never got it.
Somehow I am at Ice Cavern, timer didn't drop as much as I expect.

How far are you in your excalibur 2 perfect game on this version?

I just landed in Lindblum with a time of 1:34:21 and the only booster I've used is No Encounters.

I've made significant use of the auto save feature.

Just picked up the moonstone with Steiner and saved at the guardhouse on 13:20, no boosters will be used for the run because any time spent in encounters will be made up in the much faster load times. Of course I will be limiting how many accounts I'll allow myself per segment as per norm. I think I'll restart the challenge now because I feel I can get it under 12 minutes for this section, and I'd like to do Path C stat path which requires more buffer time use.

i dont care too much about the excalibur II, i use the excalibur I and stil do 9999 damage at low levels cause of the elemental property. i think this game have much detail to apreciate and is weird how they put something like that... i think ill better play and have fun till the clock restart to get that silly sword... by the way im playing no buffs abilities no amor and head gear playthrough i notice most armor abilities are available in accesories ;)
