PS1 to PC differences?
Anyone caring to point differences between the version? Specially item related ones, like drop rates, methods for getting stuff etc

I noticed zero difference in gameplay, drop rates, steal rates, unique items, quest rewards, treasures, shop/synthesis items, and ultimate weapons. Don't think they touched anything.

I'm pretty sure someone already debunked the compressed audio claim, though it may sound different than the original so that's just arguing semantics.

The sound effects are different for sure, the music sounds mostly the same.

There's also autosaves now and minor changes to Tetra Master.

Apart from what was mentioned above, the steam version has a dramatically decreased encounter rate, to the point that I often find myself going through entire areas (like Ice Cavern) without a single battle (I'm obviously not referring to the No Encounter cheat). Another thing I noticed is slight alteration to the text and bad music and SFXs quality with horrible transitions, without any sort of fade out like in the previous version. Character models + FMVs look awesome though, and the backgrounds have been retouched a bit as well. Some people say that RNG hasn't changed, so I don't know if that's pure luck, but I got to steal some very rare items (1/256) this time around on the 3rd-4th try.

Took me about 7 turns to steal Mage Masher from masked man (first battle of the game) with the 4 thiefs. So I think you just had good luck.

As for encounter rate, I think it's pretty much the same.

I noticed during an ATE with Steiner in the forest, his theme played. Dont think that was the case in the PS1 version.
