Difficult :(
Man, I'm only in gizamaluke grotto at the watery boss thing. I've been struggling all the way up to this point but it was getting a bit easier now that i picked up quina (which the game gives you no hint as to do this lol and its really hard without 4 characters at this point). But at this boss I find i have to pop so many potions.. and I've set my abilities and everything i don't understand might make things easier for myself. Any tips?

The 2 top threads right now are: Game is not hard enough, and the game is too hard. You just can't please everybody :D

Giamaluke's Grotto is a particularly hard part. Try spending 30 mins grinding up, might be that you're a touch under levelled.

Yeah, go to the world map, hold F1 (speed up cheat) and X (or whatever equivalent key of X on the PS controller you're using), run around until you've gained a few levels. Also, by drinking potions, make sure your health doesn't get too low.

Quinna is optional at this point (s/he obviously helps out a lot at this point) but you dont need to pick her up until later on in the game. I also recommend going to the chocobo forest near the grotto (on the world map across the small bridge) and finding some chocographs which will get you some good equipment which helps some! And of course some grinding at this point helps too. Quinna can get quite a few blue magic spells right off the bat so start filling those up too!

Okay will do as you guys recommend. I'm really enjoying the game so far just infuriating when i know for a fact I'm using the right abilities and making sure everyone is healed then WHAM aoe water spell all dead.. phoenix down.. 1hp one shot next turn /ragequit

I also got stuck at this part. I had no choice but to grind until I was strong enough to beat the boss (and it still managed to KO one of my party members before I took him down).

Still, the difficulty in this game is very inconsistent. This is the only part I had trouble with so far, and I'm not using any guides.

I tried not to but was struggling too much lol. I found killing lamia to be quite hard also. Those were the main two parts i had difficulty with. Hopefully i'll get better though. Good luck with your playthrough :p

Just throw a tent at it, and hope for the 50% darkness + silence... nearly every boss in the game has one or more status weakness that GREATLY incapacitates them. Just look up their status vulnerabilities.

Definitely do recruit Quina.

Ha i used a tent earlier on quina thinking it might heal him.. I was so very wrong.. may you RIP

this monster has counter attack and he can counter magic with silence. I would sugest you to lower battle speed to normal or low for a fair fight. You can steal with zidane, use thunder with vivi and jump with freya, and you can use potion with quina or anything else.

Gizmaluke isn't too bad once you have Quina and judge his attacks. Nothing he has should be one shotting you at this point so relegate one character to healing duty and have them throw potions at people who get get into dangerous HP thresholds.

You'll want to steal for the first part of it anyway, so spend that time working out the damage he's outputting and them make a mental note of it.

That's pretty much the best strategy on most bosses.

You can really debilitate him by starting with a tent that super debuffs him, but it's not really necessary.

your right theres not even a need for debuffs, im playing low level withouth armor just for challenge.
The only challenging thing about this game is trying to steal all items without killing the boss. They are weak like little kittens.
