You need to get to last location (there are 3 Chocobo locations for digging), so you can get points much faster.
Or if you have enough time and you're hardcore player, you can dig it at Forest.

The faster you dig - the more points you will get.
If you take all 8 treasuries in 1 min - you will get bonis points. A lot of them.
And it's not so hard, after you feel the one with this beautiful land after dozens of failures.

In Chocobo's Air Garden you can easily get 1 000 points per round if you have 30 seconds remaining after 8 treasures.

Dig at the Lagoon before you get the Ocean upgrade. Its 30 seconds long, with 4 items. You finish much quicker, and get bonus points.

i use to get the robe of lords in disk one on my ps1 times, it have half mp cost and you can use summons with garnet early because of that.

Yeah. IF you never have to burn 10 seconds switching islands (to say nothing of the time spent pecking along the one island to confirm it isn't there).
