How exactly do you get this achievement. I've just got the boat where I can change my party freely but there is no changing Zidane.

Either in the Desert Palace/Oeilvert quest where Eiko is one of your party leaders, or in the final dungeon where Zidane can be removed from the party.

Let's just say you're not at the part of the game to be able to do this just yet. So keep playing.

There is at one point of the game where you controll two different parties and you can set the members. One with Zidane one with out zidane. I think that's what they meant.
