It's also Dagga in the French version.

To be honest I only ever renamed her to Garnet, was amusing since the game never really has a conflict with that, and instead it looks more like she holds Zidane's dagger, looks at it, and then goes "lolnope".

'dagaa' is just the romanization of the japanese characters they use to write it, they don't write it like that in japanese tho lol.

ダガー is the name, and when it's written with latin alphabet in official japanese materials, it's written "dagger."

Dagger's Japanese names:
Garnet (ガーネット = Gaanetto)
Sarah (セーラ = Seera?)
Dagger (ダガー = Dagaa)

When you have the line line it means it's an extension of the vowel so they don't pronounce it incorectly, meaning set the intonation on the wrong place. So in the romanization they just duplicate the vowel or an alternate way is to put a line above the vowel - Gānetto, Sēra, Dagā.
