The One Ring Achievement

Does anyone have any tips for this? For example, does it matter if you just keep digging in the same spot or does it help to move around? For those that got the achievement, how long did it take? I feel like I spent about an hour digging without any luck but now I've invested so much time in it I don't want to move on until I get it!

Apparently its random, You just have to keep at it. I got it in the PS1 version but it took ages. Get the moogle aswell XD

mmh ive spent maybe 20-30min on that achievement. soft reset when the rng is bad

I finally got it! I was starting to wonder if this was my life now. For anyone that might still be struggling, I found that digging about 10 times in each spot and then moving on helped. Once ore and high potions stopped appearing I reloaded the game and started again. Obviously it's just my own experience but I found this much more helpful than digging a million times in the same spot.

Yeah, you want to dig until you get 3-4 items. If none of them is the Madain's Ring, stop digging, go to a different screen, go back and offer another potion to dig again. Basically you have to reset that screen for more items to spawn in.

got it probably in 30 mins of digging, top and bottom parts. then realized i couldnt go back for the fairy earrings in the chest i forgot, so *gasp* reloaded a save from 1.5 hours ago.

got everything again and the earrings, aswell as the ring a 2nd time, took probably 15 mins of digging on top and bottom parts, i kept moving around. i was watching a movie while playing so time flew by :D

Are you serious? Of all the guides I've read, absolutely NONE of them mention that. They all just say "keep at it".

i usually just do 1 pass to the right while digging, then back to the left. drop down to bottom part and do the same, pass to the right then left while digging. back to the top side and repeat, usually found it by then (2nd pass on top side)

I just got mine by setting the turbo speed cheat plus setting up a toggle macro on my keyboard and mined for about 10 mins then got the ring.

I tried this and got it in 10 minutes. Not sure if I was just lucky or if that actually helps with rng.

I got it in 25-30min with speedhacking and default walk instead of run... There are plenty of times there was not a single item to find, so don't always try to find an item every time.

You might have to hit the same spot twice for the ring, I know how it went for me:
I paid with a potion, then at the very first edge on the top level (i.e. closest location to mine from the start), I hit there twice and got the ring.

I recommend to continue the game in a different save slot, and leaving a save at that point to re-load when you are in the mood to get the achievement. A Madain's Ring is not an extremely rare item, you can get more later without having to mine it.

dont think you can come back, as it says so when you go to leave the caves. (just a couple screens to the right of the mining part).
