Expecting 50-65% so soon is ludicrous =_=
You should just find third party sellers. There are some who trade in game items have a lot Steam wallet and are willing to sell the games at lower price.
Apologize if the quote is messed up. This port isn't anywhere as bad as V and VI's Steam port. Sure it has problems, but it's not THAT bad. Maybe my experience has been better than others, but coming from someone who loves IX, it's still a fine port to get. The worst I've gotten is some slow down, but that's from playing it on an 8 year old laptop. Shouldn't be $21, but that's why sales exist.
If you have a system that can play PS1 games, it's better to get the original on Amazon. Don't have to worry about computer issues and it's cheaper, I just figured OP didn't have the means to play PS1 games. Just don't emulate it.
Also how good is VIII? The game, not the port. I've heard a lot of mixed feelings about it.
And FF9 is one of my favorite FFs (arguably my favorite of the offline main series). And my friend, who is not very familair with RPGs (outside of playing through all of PS1 FF7 as a kid) has been greatly enjoying PC-FF9. He's at the final dungeon last I checked.
I've bought this version at launch. And I've enjoyed it enough to warrant spending the asking price despite still having a working PS1 version. But it can be frustrating at some of the things that should have been fixed, just noticing all the wasted potential.
So I can't simply say BUY IT NOW in good faith. Personally, I enjoyed PC-FF5 more than PC-FF9, even though first impression of FF5 was worse than my first impression of PC-FF9.
Unfortunately, between:
Downgrades due to cellphone port status (music sounds a bit soft and some sound effects are off, but overall a better representation of FF9 audio than the GBA-FF6 was of FF6).
Aestehtic changes due to cellphone port status (different font, battle UI box sizes. Though the UI butchery isn't nearly as awful as PC-FF6's combat UI butchery).
Um, why drop the accent from that earlygame child NPC? Even without having touched the game for over 5 years, it still felt weird without the familiar "dwopped." Did all the DQ4 DS accent haters really make THAT much of a ruckus?
and Unity being Unity/Windows 10 being Windows 10 (Xbox1 controller issues, but there is workaround for this at least).
Gee, notice how 80% of that it's not the same way as the old one. Perhaps newcomers won't notice as many of those issues as much?
I can't honestly say that it's the best option among reasonably priced legal options for USA buyers. More a glorified sidegrade than an upgrade, due to the issues listed above. As PSN and PS1 disc say hi, so long as loadtimes/slowness is acceptable to you. Could Square fix the issues that actually matter? Yeah. Will Square fix the issues? Probably not.
I won't lie. The fast forward option and improved character models are nice to have (and unavailable on PS1/PSN version). But the little things are too much to proclaim that it's the best option for everyone who wants to buy a legal FF9.
And if it matters to you, 30FPS with some content, including FMVs, being 15FPS. There are times where having 60 FPS matters. But PS1 era turn based RPGs isn't really among those times, so long as it's stable.
The 3-6 would get more sale if they don't lock that Asia countries can't directly buy it.
I expect it to be 50% off during the next sale. No higher than 50% off. I expect whole series to be 50%
Almost every single FF game was 50% off about 2 months ago or so.
It's happened a few times with every single game being 50% off. I ended up waiting for most to go on sale and they all happened pretty quick. FFVIII was the only one I bought full price on steam, rest were 50% off really quick.
forget about -75%.
ff7 was -67% few times. FF8 was never more then -50%
