Is it cheating to use the 100% steal rate on bosses with the moguri mod?

i normally would say yes, but those steal rates are so horrible, it makes all the bosses fights a gruelling 30-45 minutes battle

Technically it is but Final Fantasy IX's stealing mechanics are very dumb. Items are far too difficult to get compared to other games in the series. I see it as a "fix" more than anything.

Sounds more like fixing a flaw to me. On the original I had a boss fight last well over an hour, with all the stealing abilities on, just to steal their item. To quote a wise woman, ain't nobody got time for that!

Technically I think it is but I dont care. Back when I was young I had plenty of time to grind for levels, master abilities and steal items from bosses, today I just wanna sit and enjoy the game without any of this time consuming "walls" that the game impose to you. I would say go for for it, I definitively would.

Its cheating if you cant handle the boss fight during the time needed to steal the items, its not cheating if you can.

and also some items you can buy l8ter or smithing in citiy if you cant steal the item from the boss

By definition it is cheating. Ultimately, it depends on how much you value your time. 99% of the steals aren't really all exclusive or a big deal though. Normally, you are just getting some items slightly earlier than you would if you didn't steal it.

As someone who's played legit both in the original 20 years ago and just recently; it's a yes and no. The steal system is more intricate in FFIX than it is in many prior iterations of Final Fantasy, however because it is it makes boss fights into a meta challenge of keeping people alive while you exhaust Zidane's steal over and over and over again. In fact, that's where much of the challenge with bosses comes from, because they're very easy to dispose of if you just focus on defeating them right away. It's a lot different than say utilizing 9999 dmg though.

Steal the fairy flute legitimately from Hilgigaras and you'll never feel bad about using the 100% steal again.
