SE tends to be as consistent with it's prices as Nintendo is. A 50% off sale is deeply common and they only break this trend with Eidos games really. That being said, the base retail of this game is already way lower than the original release sold for.

Yep and they only go on sale every other big sale (e.g. was not on sale in Autumn sale), so if you're keen to play it you should pick it up- make sure you get Moguri Mod!

If you did not play the game before, the 10e is must have for you..I purchased it yesterday too, and with Moguri mod installed it looks very good..I finished the original some 15 years ago and its still my most favourite FF game ever until now (And I finished almost every FF)

You better buy FFX collection or FF XV, they are both better then VIII in my opinion..
