If they are still too slow for you with the sped up intro option, just know it was even worse in the original. For the entire intro part of the music the camera panned around. Every. Single. Battle.
There's an option to skip the battle intros, but I'm specifically talking about the black screen between the random encounter to the battle start. Atleast in my case it's a solid ten seconds (at least) of black screen with music playing before the battle scene starts, then it does the whole panning around thing.
It's an older laptop but it really shouldn't be struggling with FF 9 at all.
Here's what I mean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYvBc8DmTk0
The Random battle starts at :25 and it finishes the black screen at :32. It feels longer then that for me, but regardless, I'd want to cut that in half atleast.
Thanks for this. While the transitions are still too long everything else feels much better. Makes the entire game more bearable even if I've ran into a few bugs.
If you've already installed Memoria, browse to your main game directory and open Memoria.ini with a text editor. In the [Graphics] section, change BattleSwirlFrames to something lower. In addition, you can open up the Config menu in the game, and set Skip Battle Camera to On.
