The most annoying is Cecil in FFIV and the worst is Vaan in FFXII with Bartz of FFV...FFVI has no main-protagonist and every character ( Like in FFIX) is well done...Tidus in FFX is a bad-copy of ZIdane...
I think that Cloud and Zidane are the best main-characters of the series, they're different but both has a profond meaning...Zidane represent the contrast with fear of death, main theme of FFIX, and he represents the way we have to live for the authors of the game...Cloud, well, it doesn't need to be explained I think..
I agree...Cecil Squall and Cloud are good characters but they became annoying...Tidus is a good character but he is an idiot...
Vaan and Bartz are ridicolous so...
Zidane is different, he is pure and sincere and he represents the contrast with fear of death...He is simple, but well done..
Just Locke and Edgar of FFVI are similar to Zidane, end they are great characters..
Indeed, FFIX and VI are the best Final fantasy for this reason too...Those two games have the best cast of the series..
FFVII is not bad, but the playeble-characters are not depthed..They're to much..
Believe it or not the edgy heroes are often the worst characters... which is why Zidane is such a great character! That said people like edgey, and tend to dislike non-edgy which is why Zidane isn't as well liked over charcters like cloud, or *shudders* squall...
While I like Zidane I'm not on board the "characters having emotion means broody and whiney" train though.
