Report a translation problem
The game's calculations are such that you might not be able to steal the item at all if your level is too low. And the game certainly doesn't help to communicate this to you. It displays the same "Couldn't steal anything" message regardless of the reason.
I ALWAYS try to steal everything from every boss, no matter how long it takes. Back in the day, that meant spending upwards of an hour on a single boss, whittling my resources. Nowadays it's much more bearable given the fast forward function.
Other Final Fantasy games make the bosses carry nothing, which I think might be a better way to go about things. That eliminates the desire to constantly reload saves to retry getting a single item. I do enjoy that this one rewards you with early access to items that you won't get until later in the game, sometimes much later.
lol same. I quickly got past this game and didn't "cheat" again till the end. I got to many FF to play and since there was an option to skip some grinding, I toke it.
