a few questions

i was wondering if there was a prestige or rebirth mecanic implemented yet, of if i have to make new saves to check the other paths? and have anyone found a repeatable way to get skill points? the one offs ive found dont cover all the skills.

New version of Beggar's Life!

Version 0.28.3 available for free as a Steam Demo

- Get sick from raising rats and living in the sewers (yay...?)
- Cultivate a body capable of becoming stronger the sicker you are
- Go too far in your sickness to the point things get really bad
- Classes, skills, and other content related to the above
- BONUS: new christmas content!! Make gifts and stuff.

Some new QOL and boosts to existing content

Class hints so you can know which classes are in the game more easily
New ways to farm skill points
New upgrades to existing content, making some stuff faster

Some questions for you all:

Does the UI work fine on big screens?
Love bug reports and usability complaints!!
Merry Christmas!! Glad I could get the update on time for Christmas!

A lot of people have played the game and they took the time to let me know how they felt. I take to heart every compliment and word of thanks. Issues have also been brought to my attention.

I have summarized and ordered by priority the problems we currently have. I'm not sure if I can fix all of those problems or when I can fix those problems. For some of those issues, I'm not even sure if fixing them will improve the game according to my vision. But I will consider all issues and I plan to fix a lot of them in the upcoming updates. I make no promises though.

DPI problems, fullscreen, mouse scrolling, and big monitor handling
Fixing troublesome english terms that do not mean what I think it means
"Wood art" path to unlocking late game stuff being too convoluted
Lack of skill points and being locked out of a path because of skill choices
Better release process to avoid bugs on hot fixes
revise font size for other languages to make them thicker (bolder?)
Grind related to late game mind resource generation
Grind related to gratitude / faith
Losing logs when re-starting the game
Further information on what is unlocked (type of unlock, resource, task, etc)
Complete mystery on class availability
Players who want to be directed and have goals can feel a bit lost
Some of the actions you can do in-game can be too dry on rewards

The priority ordering is a bit loose. That being said, the first 4 items are quite big problems in my mind.

That being said, I think I'll add more content to 0.28 to handle some issues listed above. I might only get those fixes when I get to version 0.30 though. We'll see

interesting idea, demo is buggy and lackluster AF :(

I hope this team decides to push their publication date out further, because this thing is not very functional yet - lots of misspelled words; half the time when you hover over a task it won't show the description, the other half of the time one description either stays stuck on the screen or every single task gets the same description. With some significant fixes applied to those issues, as well as a better UI, it could be enjoyable....

thoughts on how housing works

So I played this game before on the browser and found I am not the biggest fan of how this game's base/ housing system works. it's very strict with little improvement options. if I could make a suggestion instead of the slots being used for the items you use to adjust stats with, how about they are for furnuture, like a bed for sleeping and a shelf for holding items and those have a set number of options for what and how many things they can hold. like I make a simple shelf from some scrap wood and nails a...
