Graphics Card Running HOT!!
Hey guys

I recently picked up the game to play with friends and while I was playing I heard my fan RAMP up really quickly and loudly, and it repeated this several times. So my first response was to load GPU-Z and see whats what.

Turns out my card is running consistently 90 C which is really damn hot.

I'm using a GTX 980.

I've tried lowering settings to medium, and even low and I was unable to keep temps down bellow 88-90 C even on the lowest settings. Has this been a consistent issue with others? I'd really like to figure out why my card is running this hot. I play a lot of other games that are graphically demanding and the hottest it normally gets on the most demanding games I have, is around 80 C. 90 is just way to uncomfortable for me.

Set a frame cap if you haven't. I lowered my frames from 75 to 60 and it made a huge difference.

Adding to what was said, you could try undervolting it. Or even repaste it, provided you know what you're doing. Maybe open the side panel of your case for better airflow. And adjust the fan curve manually for maximum cooling.

Anyhow the card starts throttling at around 90°C. Surely not optimal to run at that temp for extended periods. But you should be fine. At worst it will crash or your computer will shut down to prevent anything bad from happening.

Make sure you have the Smooth FPS option enabled in the graphics settings if you haven't already.
