Noob problems.
I grabbed the game since it was on sale and I'd been eyeballing it for a little while. Looks beautiful! I picked a Psittacosaurus to start with and came to realize I don't know how to eat.

I'm lucky to spawn in a place surrounded by greenery to hide in but I don't know how to take a bite out of it.

Or how to bite in general really.

Each dino only eats certain plants, and what those plants look like depends on the map you're on. Bushes generally arent edible, but again it depends on the map.

Green ferns or dandilions are your best bet, if there are any. just press E

Worth to mention that if you're on the Terra Vitae map, as a psittaco, your best bet is to find small yellow flowers.

Empty tummy. Never did find anythign that let me eat it. Watched a lets play by TheGamingBeaver playing Psittacosaurus though to get an idea what to look for. But in his video he just up and eats a tree.

just keep playing and look at keamappings in options, and dont afraid to ask questions in chat, with time you will know what to do.

Local chat is a good thing as a noob, other herb players are friendly and will show you where food is if you ask. Never fails, unless nobody is around.

Depending what map you play on, green ferns are typically what you eat as a taco, or small yellow flowers on Terra Vitae as others stated. Herbivores now also gain PP overtime so you should be able to progress to Dryo or Ava, even if you don't eat depending on what server you're playing on.

The game is a little confusing at first but one you play for a few hours you will easily figure out what you need to do. :)

At this point I've had a whole (newbie) experience witht he game and left a recounting of it in another thread. But I appreciate the advice.

And you're right. The people are helpful.
