My point wasnt just to sound like movies but having a noise that isnt so unpleasant. current walking and running sounds sound like running through garbage. if they just settle down the players footstep volume it would even be better. It seems they could do it with Trikes normal walk but no other dinosaur.
When an elephant goes walking through the savanah is is almost silent. the creatures in the isle are walking on grass most of the time, it shouldnt sound like they are walking over a floor covered in breakable junk.
Also Animals minimize the shock to their body by not stomping around without a reason, the bigger the animal is the less shock it wants so the smoother its gait should be, the largest dino's have even shock absorbing pads like elephants on the load bearing limbs.
But running dinosaurs might generate substantial vibrations just as modern mammals do when they run. So dinosaurs should not be as loud as they are. and it should be a more rythmic vibrational sound than a large crunchy sound.
People have mentioned the walking/running sound design before. even if you find original Isle Gameplay the footstep sound was a little easier on the ears.
Anyway this is just my two cents on the subject.
