How to restart from the beginning. ("Help, I deleted all of my plants!")
As of the 2016 Summer Solstice Update, empty or completely dead pots can be restarted from within the game. A trowel button will appear over your pot - clicking on this will guide you through the process. If you want to reset a pot that isn't fully dead, you can toss or overwater the remaining plants to trigger this feature.

Is there any way I can get another free seedling after deleting my older save file?
Edit: I just checked and I saw that I can just buy the seedling that I've lost after deleting my older save file. I just bought it and will plant it again. I hope the Sedum Morganianum that I bought wouldn't get the snail stop moving again.

If someone spent real money on seeds, would they lose them all by doing this?
Ice Water Games  [developer] Aug 20, 2015 @ 10:59pm
Doing this will destroy any seedlings that have been planted, but keep any that are still unplanted, in your Steam Inventory. The fact that doing this can destroy things you've spent a lot of time and a little money on - that's why there isn't a new game button :)

I deleted all grass like plants yesterday (with x button). Is this what you're talking about? I think it's weeds and they keep reappearing.

There should be a New Game button; it should link here.

Many people have quit the game (like a lot of the negatives) because they couldn't do so (some guy thought you had to pay). :D: They just didn't know how.

well ♥♥♥♥ lol i just started and then strate away deleted every plant thinking i could replant to re-arrange and add selected plants . then i found i couldnt replant any thing or just creat a new pot... oh well

I think, because SOO many people are "accidentally" deleting their plants permanently, expecting them to get their plants back, something does need to be slightly tweaked.

For example, you shouldn't be able to permanently delete plants EXCEPT in the menu where you could buy plants. That way, it's more obvious what you are doing.

Basically, barely any cons (more effort to permanently delete stuff, if you even need to ever do that) and a bunch load of pros (no fear when moving plants, new players not realizing it doesn't go back in their inventory, etc).

Even if the plant is fully deleted from the Store, there should be a confirmation dialog before then. No harm done.

After that issue is solved, the only real problem left is people accidentally Waterlogging their stuff.

Why is one of the files called "fart.dat"?
derydovely Aug 22, 2015 @ 10:39am
Hello! Maybe I'm just completely missing them, but I can't find any of the .dat files. I'm on mac so maybe it appears differently?
Ice Water Games  [developer] Aug 22, 2015 @ 11:00am
In OSX, right click Viridi.app in Finder and click Show Package Contents. The .dat files should be in a folder called Contents.

If you run Steam in offline mode, then delete all of the .dat files in your local folder directory and launch the game, you will be able to create a new save file from the beginning. Water something to make sure it saves, then close the game and put Steam back into online mode. It should overwrite your cloud save with your new local save. Your inventory should be okay through this.

im on a mac. where do I find these files?
