What happened to the free client this game used to have where you were limited in content but could try the game even in multiplayer? I would love to use it to show the game to my friends.

I'm currently having a problem with Invisigun where upon launching the main menu does not load fully and nothing can be interacted with any input. If I accept an invite I join the lobby, but then I will not be able to start selecting a character and if I try to leave using the menu it will not allow me to exit out.
