Player position development
Zero players, amateur position players, universal players, specialist players, multi-position players: I need some help!

Newbie, started the tutorial, seemed to get a decent draw for the team, was on my way to moving up, but read some guides, started to get a beginners feel for the game, and started over. Want to pay more attention to player development, but I'm confused by the positioning, and specifically, how new players (zero and amateurs) develop positions and what potentials for changing positions exist. It would also be nice to know how multi-positions work, and the pros and cons, but I'm not there yet.

Any available guides out there on this topic? If not, any guidance is much appreciated.

Also, I've seen recommendations for selling the oldest players for money. What's the best time to do this if starting out, tutorial mode? Right before the deadline, or sooner to put the money into Youth Academy sooner?

Much thanks for any guidance.

i know this is shameless promotion but i did upload a guide with those topics
okay let see...
to develop a Zero player
you just need to put him in a general position that means, Goalkeeper, Defender, mid or Forward
Any position will do
they will develop a basic class eventually

then it comes the specialized or universal positions
thet means you know want to make that player keep playing on a specific position lets say DM
eventually he will develop that position BUT you will have to choose if you want THAT DM or just an universal MF

all classes work like that you choose a specific one or a Universal only once they already have their basic class

as for the sell part: the perfect time to sell them is when they reach 33 ages old
at 34 they will annouce their retirement and you will not able to renew or sell the player which is lost money

again check the guides section xD
hope it helps

Also Universal positions NEVER develop Another Class your universal MF will never be a DM or AM

Especialized classes can learn another 3 specific classes even a defender Can Become a Forward

Thanks for the guide, I have seen it and spent plenty of time going over the recommendations for individual positions, totally forgot about the info up top. Thanks for the work you put into it, great info there!

As far as positional progression: can amateur positionals be forced to another position through playing them at that position? In the case of a DM, do they have to start as amateur M or can they start amateur D?

You can start as either.

As said above, as either... Yet there are some limitations... It's not described anywhere, but an easy rule to follow is : A class ( even amateur ), can develop in any other adjacent class ( remove the side borders, I think a "Left" can become a "Right" too )

If you want to see how players can develop from scratch, you could always try my Easy Does It mod league :)
Yet another shameless plug there :)
