Youth Academy worth it?
I'm beginning to doubt the worth of the youth academy. After a few play throughs, I am finding that investing the in global transfer list (didn't know it existed until recently) is a much better option. 6.4M to get a chance at a level 25 player? For that amount you could get a fully skilled level 55 player in the position you want and with the skills you want.

Personally, I would get rid of the player range to make the academy better. Maybe allow the choice of position too. Hurray, a level 20 GK that will take 3 seasons to not be a liability when I already have a keeper 4 years older!

You are right, it might not worth it. I wanted to make the price of Youth Academy to represent the amount of real-life effort need to be made to make the Youth Academy a world-class. Also, I wanted the club development was possible to move in different directions:
1) Only YA
2) Only transfers
3) Both

Every option should be viable. I understand that not many players play with option 2 but it really makes sense.

I think this decision shows the depth of the game to your credit.

The trouble with the academy is that it is:
1) expensive
2) multiple layers of RNG.
a) What level is the player?
b) What position?
c) What skills? If any?

Maybe having a list of three academy players from which you can choose 1. Or have a list of 10 new candidates. You choose the position and skill, but only 1 of those players will develop and be available at the next window. Some compromise where the player can make some input, but isn't guaranteed to get the exact player they want.
