Question about progression order in The Ringed City

I just finished the Halflight fight and I'm wondering if I should go back and do Midir before going up and through the door at the top of the stairs.

I know Midir is optional, but does doing things in a specific order matter?

If you want to summon shira to midir's fight then order does matter bc after entering gael's arena she wouldn't be available as summon anymore

midir is easier if done alone, shira is just here to increase midir's health (she's useless for the bossfight)

i know that but the question was about the order not about how easy to fight midir

I think you should have fought Midir before killing the Spear of the Church because if you kill Midir and go back to talk to Shira she gives you a Titanite Slab, but if you kill the Spear of the Church she considers you as a traitor and won't talk to you anymore. (or is it after waking up Filianor ? I am not sure.)

It I just checked and got the slab after the Midir fight no problem. So there's probably another sequence later that effects it. Phew!

More likely waking up the Princess, which will make her move in Gael's arena.
