Avoid cinders at all costs
play convergence, OP
Both mods have some weird jank and will make some big changes that not everyone will enjoy. Like, Convergence claims it has a massively overhauled magic system and has a wide variety of different types of magic, but in reality a lot of the "different types' stuff is just "it's green instead of red" without significant gameplay differences. It's still neat to have, but it's definitely a bit overhyped.
Cinders on the other hand, more or less keeps the original game's magic types but adds in a bunch of spells that are various levels of balanced/unbalanced. Both mods give you passive FP regen, and tend to tweak vanilla spells to account for that.
As for gear, both mods add new equipment, generally from other Fromsoft Soulsborne games. Both add bosses, to varying degrees of success, change enemy spawns in levels, mimic locations, things like that.
Not really sure why this specific forum seems to prefer Convergence more, but it's probably just a numbers thing. "seems like more people are talking about this, so I will play it" bandwagon sorta situation, probably.
The only problem is that cinders seems extremely easy in the beginning with all the classes I've tried; the assassin even has a set that makes you invisible, and enemies quickly lose track of you if you simply move away. So you can easily cheese mobs with the bow that you start with by shooting and walking backwards. Is that the way this was meant to be played?
But like I said, maybe I'll just stick with cinders and try adding some curses to increase the difficulty until it clicks, idk. Hopefully it gets better.
Cinders is genuinely a poorly made mod. It won't get any better
Not describing anything about why you think the mod is poorly made and instead just saying "it's bad" just makes you sound like you're bad at playing the mod. That's not a bad thing but telling recommending people "stay away from it at all costs" without actually saying why other than one boss out of dozens being a reskin is demented. Give some actual information to substantiate your claim instead of just saying "it's bad" like a four year old
