Crystal Sage
I feel like an idiot, because everyone says the crystal sage is easy, but I find his magic attacks nearly impossible to dodge consistently and he's deleting me from full health in just one or two hits.

I don't understand how I'm struggling with a boss that, from what everyone says, is a pushover.

She's a pushover when you learn what to do or you are overpowered and you stunlock her in place. Otherwise, she can be kinda crazy with the magic spamming.

Unlock, be light so you can roll fast, run around and learn her spawning spots. She has purple magic, the clones have blue.
Clones would die in one hit/ knife/ bomb (I use knives if even).

Good luck. :estusfull:

Don't get discouraged. Bosses you find easy, others may find hard and have trouble with. That's the beauty of the game. :bonfire2:

Keep on trying, and if the need arises, you can always summon a sunbro.

Cheers :praisesun:
Pressure his first phases, so by the time the clones arrive, he almost dead. If you linger too much at the clones stage, fight becomes much harder than it should be.
Part of the problem is that it's the first phase I keep dying to, before the clones even show up. If she gets even a single cast off it's pretty much impossible for me to get in close to deal damage after that.
i got at least 1200 hours in this in this game and i struggle with this boss too sometimes

Not at the moment, but the offer is appreciated. I want to try pushing through on my own before summoning someone to do it for me.

Way to go, but at fog gate if needed
I'm not even in game at the moment, but thanks for the attempt. I'll try it again later.

k
It is worth noting 27 vigor is one of the first real caps for hp and damage stats don't matter enough early to warrant heavy investment with exception to more advanced players.
Most things shouldn't be capable of murdering you without making a serious mistake easily by at least 20 vigor. Hp early is strong.
As for the crystal sage I'm sure you'll be fine after a bit. The first test determines how well you hurdle anyway.

Are you dodging? I know that sounds like a smarta** question but I'm serious.

If you're trying to dodge AS it hits you, you're gonna get hit. You have to predict it and dodge it about a half-step ahead of time, at the LATEST. Sage has a few magic attacks:

- Crystal Spike-Ball: Summons a spiky ball and sends it to you, flies slow enough to dodge easily but can be screwy on depth perception since it's a little bigger than it seems at first. Tracks, but can easily be tricked by dodging under it, or around it to get past it, since it can't fully 180.

- White Dragon Breath: Fires a beam of magic along a straight line, which then erupts into crystals. Deals damage on beam AND crystal generation. Fires quick, but easy to dodge if you just dodge to either side instead of forward or backward. Dodging sideways also gets you away from the crystals, unless you run back into the path of the laser.

- Farron Dart spam: fires darts back-to-back, quickly. Spam dodge to one side and you'll be fine, you might take 1-2 hits but that won't mean much since each individual dart isn't that strong.

- Farron Hail: Fires a series of shotgun blasts of farron darts. Hits like a truck if you let it, but can be avoided by spam-dodging through it (into it, not sideways and not backward)

- Soul Spear: Fires a large, quick-flying, magic spear. Dodge to one side and you'll be fine.

It's important to remember, Sage is one of the easiest bosses in the game to stagger. Getting up close means you can stun the Sage out of most casting. All you need to do is learn HOW to dodge the attacks and WHEN to dodge to effectively avoid them.
That’s actually excellent advice, I was trying to dodge the spells but couldn’t figure out how to dodge them without just hiding behind a pillar! Thank you so much.
