Can I do anything with the broken straight sword?

In DS1 you could combine the broken straight sword with a boss soul to get a unique weapon. Can you do anything like that in this game?

If you actualy beat someone with bss in an actual fight - you'll destroy this person from very depths of soul of a living being, blow out any ambitions, hopes and dreams from the mind, you'll burn any motivation by just one moment - the moment when a warrior falls by not the blade but just by a 5mm-long piece of it, that not even sharp enough to slice even butter!
I'll tell you a story:

*His wife and children were staring at him in silence, in a true horror...*

No real reason to use broken ss to learn spacing or fishing, just stick with good straight swords and killing someone with a broken straight sword isn't hard if they're bad and are also using a terrible weapon like greathammers

Damn. I wish you could actually do something with it like in DS1. Oh well, which reminds me, does the broken straight sword have a purpose in DS2?

Not much, but there is broken thief's sword which mixes dagger moveset on R1(light attacks) with straight sword moveset on R2(heavy attacks). It's like broken ss but with style.
