I am having a great time with convergence so far. The devs have done an amazing job. They have completely changed each area in interesting ways and the new spells and weapons are excellent. Apparently, they stole code from Cinders which sucks but I definitely prefer Convergence.
Cinders has an insane amount of weapons, armor and (upgradable) spells; customizable difficulty, a lot of new movesets for weapons and weapon arts; upgradable covenants and a lot of more stuff, which is way too much to list here. The difficulty curve is linear, so you usually won´t encounter a wall which stops you from progressing, because it´s too difficult.
But as others have already mentioned, the devs don´t seem to have a clear vision of what they want to do, they often remove and later reintroduce features.
Convergence has a lot less content than Cinders and concentrates more on magic. It also has awesome redesigned bosses or completely new ones, which aren´t just a reskin of existing ones. The balancing is a lot worse than in Cinders, in my opinion. Convergence starts out quite challenging and then becomes either even more difficult or a simple cakewalk in the park if you pick your magic buffs right. A straight sword with more than 2k AR and very high resistances are not uncummon, which make new game plus runs just boring.
