is dark souls 3 servers dead?

i installed this game a few days ago and i cant log in to the servers on any day, just fails to connect so i have to play offline mode. does that matter tho or am i missing out on something

Servers have been offline for a while now to remove a dangerous exploit that allowed "hackers" to infiltrate your PC. Since Elden Ring release was the priority it will take a bit longer with the older games. You can play just fine, just without the online features. Noone knows how long the fix will take.

If you want online features you can use "Dark Souls 3 - Open Server". It is tool which allows you to join/host custom servers.

if you haven't played for long, ask for a refund. imo it's not worth all the money it costs, without online experience. Wait to buy it until the price goes down or they fix the online problem. and yes, you are missing the best part of dark souls: covenants, invasions and summons.

the way they are behaving with an older game (which are still selling at the same price of elden ring, but with no online content) should worry you on how they are going to treat elden as soon as they have an other baby or the initial hype goes off.

Someone developped a way to host local servers or join servers from other random people. It is perfect if you wish to play coop with friends using Hamachi or VPNs, or just hope to get PvP in some server with a few people connected.
