Allegedly, this was patched for Elden Ring in time for release, but to protect the players of the Dark Souls trilogy they took all the servers offline. As far as we know, they're still working on fixing some performance issues for Elden Ring, which is understandably their top priority. We have no information on when the Dark Souls servers may be coming back.
The worst part of this is (a) they knew about this exploit for some time, and did nothing until it started getting more attention, and (b) modders actually fixed the exploit BEFORE the servers went down. Which means you could have played online and been safe while using the mod.
I love From games, as I love Nintendo games, but it feels like there's some rule that says that such companies have to suck in at least one aspect, usually something PR related.
