I have an i5-12400 and a 3060 the game is stuck at 60 fps and 16.6 ms of frametime but now and then i get some annoying stuttering wich seems to be just random. if someone had the same problem is it fixable? if yes how ?

Try going into the nvidia control panel and force v-sync on for dark souls 3, this sometimes helps
Nvidia control panel and set your shader cache to unlimited so it only stutters at that part of the game only once.

Well, actually you can do a few things.

First of all this game loads assets when you traverse certain points in game (for example after you open the door after defeating the Vordt of the boreal valley and walk towards the edge of the collapsed bridge there will be a hiccup), and it does so very inefficiently. Other than waiting for From software to git gud at programming you can get a mod which increases draw distances. This practically eliminates those kinds of stutters completely.

Then there is a new kind of stutter which was introduced in patch 1.15.1 after the game got back online and remained in 1.15.2. It happens randomly once every few minutes. Nobody has managed to find a fix/workaround at the moment, but I have seen convincing posts mentioning that having a list of ignored people on your steam profile affects the severity of those stutters. Don't ask. One thing I can tell for sure is that I haven't ignored anyone on steam, and those stutters still occur (though not as severe/long lasting as some people show in their videos, so maybe that's why). But if you are okay with playing the game offline you can downgrade to 1.15.0 which will eliminate those stutters completely.

Other than that the game has some issues handling reconnects/disconnects of usb devices. You'd want to look into this: https://github.com/kh0nsu/FromStutterFix

Thank you for the explanation, i tryied too to clear the ignored list on steam, but as for you it didn't make any difference, as for using an older patch i think i won't do it, just beacuse i want to play online, i like invasions and pvp so i think for now i'm gona deal with the stutter. I'm gonna try to use the fix for the "device stutter" you sent and see if it makes any difference, but in both cases thanks for the answare who clarified the situation.

Fair enough. But, just in case if you'll ever decide to give it a try, know that you can downgrade the game directly through steam. There is no need to download any external tools. Just a FYI.

Well, iirc in previous versions of the game your save files made in newer version weren't backwards compatible. Interestingly save files made in 1.15.2 work in 1.15.1 and 1.15.0 (and vice versa obviously), so technically the answer is yes. However I am not sure if hopping between versions wouldn't flag your save file by their anti-cheat system (however it may work). So the answer is do at your own risk.

The Cinders mod page has a link to the old 1.15.0 version .exe file. The installation is as simple as overwriting DarkSoulsIII.exe in your game's folder. You can verify files in Steam to go back to the latest version.

It sucks so much they f**ked the whole trilogy with this unnecessary patch. If it wasn't for LukeYui stirring up trouble, we would've been fine. There's a special place in Hell for people like him.

You can get 1.15.0 directly from steam.

Press win+r, type "steam://open/console" without quotes, press enter.
In steam console write "download_depot 374320 374321 4471176929659548333 3168345489162603428" without quotes.

You will find 1.15.0 executable in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_374320\depot_374321\Game folder (or wherever your steam is installed).

Sure, but that will redownload the whole game, wasting bandwidth and SSD write cycles.

No, that will download only an exe file. If you write the command exactly as shown in my previous post, that is.

Oh, that is nice then.

Weird that SteamDB lists 374230 as "Unknown Depot" though. https://steamdb.info/depot/374320/

That is not a depot id. That is an appid: https://steamdb.info/app/374320/ The depot id is 374321.

Oh, my bad, I googled how it works again. The final part of your command is what's making it skip the rest of files, I'm guessing?

download_depot <appid> <depotid> [<target manifestid>] [<delta manifestid>] [<depot flags filter>]
