Input delay on PC
So I know this has been discussed several times as I see there are other people experiencing the same thing, but I couldn't see any sorts of resolution from the game creators or at least a reply from them. That is why I want to ask it again since I tried the game on another device and wanted to know if I should purchase it.

SO basically on the gaming laptop that I tried the game on, it has huuuge input delay. The laptop specs aren't great but not too bad either, ie. 16GB RAM DDR5, GeForce RTX3060 and intel i5. Yes, it runs the game on Low but that's very different than plain input lag.

Now the problem: Well if I press the Roll key (mine was bound to Alt), the character just performs the roll after a good 1 second. I don't know how much time it was really, but I could LITERALLY take my hands off the keyboard and mouse and clap 1 and a half times after I pressed and released the roll key before my character decides to do something.
Is there a fix for this? if not, this is super disapointing...

Thanks.

Sorry you are having problems with the game. :(

FYI, my desktop PC is very old: i5-3570 CPU, 16 GB RAM, Geforce 1660 Super. I run the game on max settings, yet your seemingly better specs (albeit laptop) are not performing as well?

I don't have much experience with laptops. Have you tried using a program like Process Explorer to stop programs you don't need before running Dark Souls 3? The less apps and background processes running in the background, the better.

Try installing updated drivers for the components in your PC?

Windows 10 or 11?

Thanks Paulaus333 for the reply.

I am stunned to see that you run this game on max settings with seemingly lower spec than the laptop, what the hell?

Just for my own sanity, are you experiencing any particular input lag ? like if you press the Roll button does that work right away?

I have monitored the background processes to see if it can be helped and while they are truly many of them, there isn't a major one drawing more than 1-5% of CPU and 0% GPU resources. The biggest one is that the browser was running with youtube on which I admit draws a ton of RAM, but the problem seems to not amend itself even without it.

I will try to see if driver update works, thanks for the suggestion.

I am running the game on Windows 10

I am not experiencing any input lag, no. If I press a key or mouse button, it works right away.

Alrighty, seems like it could definitely be the laptop since its pretty old. Laptops are also notoriously less powerful than just a regular PC, ie. RTX 3060 on PC is way better than RTX 3060 on laptop, so I assume your video card is probably even faster than that.
I am looking to see if I can update the drivers and give it another try, otherwise a new laptop/PC is to be grabbed if savings allow it :D

Many thanks.

What CPU do you have?

Maybe I am wrong, but I find it hard to believe your seemingly higher laptop specs and my desktop specs are the difference between running on Low Settings or High Settings. This game is 8 years old after all.

I did just have a look and apparently its not i5, its: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz. Could that be the problem?

It could be your CPU that is the problem. I am too tired to determine right now!

I see, thank you Paulaus, I will check some articles on the CPU and see what people think about it, overall it seems the laptop is not cutout for DS3 unfortunately.
