is there a way to make firestorm/chaos storm good?

both of them do such lackluster damage for how hard is is to get a cast off

Nope, it's just kind of bad in this game sadly. You can still use it as a wakeup after backstabs/riposte's though. Even if CBV is generally a better option for that situation, chaos storm looks cool enough to warrant being used. It's not like most people don't already soft-nerf themselves just to look cool or use a build they like anyways. It's not like it CAN'T put in work either, it's just not as good at doing its job as other big boy pyromancies. Just use chaos storm after ripostes and it generally catches people off guard enough for free damage, since literally nobody runs chaos storm from my experience. It's useable by all means as a wakeup tool.

i feel like they got super scared of this spell being op like in ds1 so they just giga nerfed it to be useless
