I can say 70-75% of my invasion ends up player either going into boss room or disconnecting and maybe 1% of my invasions 1vs1, so people doesnt even wanna risk dying even tho they outnumber invader.
It's rather telling how often hosts will happily 2v1 or 3v1 an invader, but the moment they're left alone they suddenly hate PVP, running for the boss or alt f4 or turtling scared unwilling to even try to fight until a blue shows up or they can summon a new white. Gankers would often also justify their squad by saying how this is them getting back at those dastardly invaders.
Dying to a boss multiple times or to PVE is whatever, but when they know some memelord is sitting there behind the monitor doing it, it hurts too much.
So maybe the hatred towards invaders is just that everyone expects them to kill you instantly since most fights dont last over 30 seconds
That's what I'm saying. They act like invaders are grifters. Running away, ganking, disconnecting etc. are the actual scummy attitudes here, like nobody else is allowed to play the game the way they want too. And they act like they deserve a medal for it LoL.
This is not like an MMO, you won't be invaded by a lv 999 hacker all the time, just... participate, Jesus.
Well, people are constantly taunting PVP players here because the servers are down. That was my reason to bring this up.
As I started invading myself, I began to understand the appeal and see the interaction from another perspective.
All of the things I hated about invaders (excluding twinking, glitching and hacking - which are mega scummy and intolerable) became things that are necessary to compete.
It's not much fun beating up a host and his friend who can barely defend themselves. People with multiple summons using dried finger, so inviting opposition are wonderful and often friendly types. A single invader doesn't seem so bad after that. :)
