Question about 1440p
I'm currently gaming at 1080p and was wondering if 1440p is mainstream enough to try out I've been looking at a 144hrtz benq and wondering if 2 980s are good for 1440p or buy me a pair of 980tis

Well, I dunno about Dark Souls 3, but I've seen many complains about the lack of 144hrtz support on the steam forums. And looks like many modern games don't support sli too, again judging by the steam forums.

Well I mean I could wait to see what pascal hast to offer in June but Idk is the transition from 1080p to 1440p amazing?

I play dark souls 2 currently in 1440p and pull around 60 fps very comfortablely with 970, a single 980TI would run it just fine. But I'd really recommend wait for for pascal as it could be a big step up.

I use a 1440p 165hz monitor from asus and my single 980ti handles it wonderfully. I play dark souls 2, heavily modded skyrim, and just finished rise of the tomb raider and everything runs above 60fps with max settings. Hope this helps.

Yea sli drains more electricity with slight boost to performance.

Should go 4k but.. it's not possible just yet in 2016 :( and run things on ultra and expect 60 fps lol

Just get a 980ti and you're set to go for either 1440p, and 4k at (at reasonable fps). 4k is very much possible with a single 980ti or an sli/crossfire setup. I'm rocking two 390xs here for 4k and i'm not lying when I say that the extra vram is really needed. The main thing to remember is that not every game supports multi-gpu and that you need a good CPU for higher resolutions so you won't bottleneck your GPUs.

Yeah that's the thing can't wait for dx12 to be perfected so we can do away with SLI profiles because dx12 pulls all you hardwares resources

dark souls 2 had 2k support so yeah, probably, 144 hrtz probably not supported. one 980 can do you up to 4k in alot ofgames so you'd be solid

also remember the size of your monitor does matter under a certain inch size you probably won't tell much of a difference between 1080 and 1440

If you're going to spring for something as expensive as a 980 or 980 ti you really might want to wait until Pascal comes out. Odds are it will have a significant performance boost at the same price range.
