I don't think so, but no idea.

NPCs invade you anyway, but you still need to be embered (except for Ringed city invaders).
Unlike DS2, there is no additional invaders if you play offline.

If you're talking about scripted NPC invasions at specific points in the game (like Holy Knight Hodrick in the undead settlement), those will happen regardless of your online status, though you still need to be embered for them to happen.

It was the same way in Dark Souls and Dark Souls II. Scholar of the First Sin even added additional NPC invasions specifically for offline players.

Only Hodrick will invade you if you're offline the rest won't which sucks tbh cause I didn't have internet for a while and I could only play offline.

Yes you can get scripted NPC invaders in your game even when you're playing offline, but you need to be embered. There are two types of offline play:

(1) Start Steam offline and play offline. To start Steam offline, you might want to disconnect Steam from the internet or disable your internet connection. When Steam is offline and you play offline, you won't get scripted NPC invaders, but you will still be invaded by Hodrick. And no invading players.

(2) Start Steam online and play offline. In this mode, you will still get scripted NPC invaders as well as Hodrick. But no invading players.

(1) Start up Windows and log in.

(2) Make sure your internet connection is on and you can go online. To check this, open a web browser and visit a web site. Once you know that you have internet connection, close the browser.

(3) Open the Steam application and log in to Steam. Since you have internet connection, then this step will make you online in Steam.

(4) In the Steam application, navigate to Dark Souls III and press the Play button. Don't start playing Dark Souls III.

(5) In the menu of Dark Souls III, navigate to System, then the Network tab. Look for Launch Setting and set it to Play Offline. This means that whenever you start Dark Souls III, you would by default play offline.

(6) Now quit the menu and restart Dark Souls III. Or you can quit Dark Souls III, which means that you exit the game. Now start Dark Souls III again and you should by default not be online.

(7) Do not log in to the Dark Souls III game server.

(8) Continue with or play your game.
