The downside is that you can't summon allies :x
Even if you don't plan on using the pve/pvp system, you'll still see all those messages & blood stains pilling up next to secrets or traps, totally spoiling the sense of exploration for you. And if you need help, there are usually one or two NPC summons in each zone.
Once you beat the game and know where the good items are and what kind of build you want to make go ahead and make a character for the online action (soooooo many cosplay possibilities this time).
Trust me on this, this game is riddled with secrets. Don't get spoiled! You can only have a first playthrough.
Ha, I wish.
Yeah but the stress out of being invaded at any time is also nice. I think it depends for every person.
Yeah, I guess that's true. Invasions are a big part of the Souls serie after all. But there's so many things that are getting spoiled just by playing online. Hidden doors, invisible bridges, ennemy ambushes, mimics... I wish there was a way to disable bloodstains & messages :/
yes the game has an option to go into offline mode with out the need to put steam in offline mode.
Load into game with your character then go to options and in the setting you can choose offline, same tab as restricting matchmaking and such.
