Is it possible to play this game offline ?
For the first time just to enjoy the story and not get invaded ?
Sick of hackers or trolls that ruin my game

I dont mind invaders if they are not hacking.

You can be in non ember form and you won't suffer any online interactions. (Like being hollow in DS1)

If you don't use embers you can't get invaded :)
The downside is that you can't summon allies :x

disconnect from the internet and launch the game then reconnect after you're in.

Launch it while steam is in offline mode, boom, no player invasions.
It works offline. You can play in OFFLINE mode.

Play online but join the way of the blue convenent, Its usualy very easy to find early and equip the ring they give. That way, not only will the game be fun for you. But also for the people who play as sentinels :D

I strongly recommend everyone to do their first playthrough offline.

Even if you don't plan on using the pve/pvp system, you'll still see all those messages & blood stains pilling up next to secrets or traps, totally spoiling the sense of exploration for you. And if you need help, there are usually one or two NPC summons in each zone.

Once you beat the game and know where the good items are and what kind of build you want to make go ahead and make a character for the online action (soooooo many cosplay possibilities this time).

Trust me on this, this game is riddled with secrets. Don't get spoiled! You can only have a first playthrough.

Yeah but the stress out of being invaded at any time is also nice. I think it depends for every person.

Yeah, I guess that's true. Invasions are a big part of the Souls serie after all. But there's so many things that are getting spoiled just by playing online. Hidden doors, invisible bridges, ennemy ambushes, mimics... I wish there was a way to disable bloodstains & messages :/

The interaction between leaving help messages is supposed to be part of the experience also.

putting steam in OFFLINE MODE is not an acceptable solution. does the game actually let you choose to play offline?
Auto Bio Reactor Apr 14, 2016 @ 9:05pm
There is an option to always start the game in offline mode, for your convenience.

yes the game has an option to go into offline mode with out the need to put steam in offline mode.

Load into game with your character then go to options and in the setting you can choose offline, same tab as restricting matchmaking and such.
