DARK SOULS™ III

DARK SOULS™ III

View Stats:
Sovereignless Soul starting gift.
Description:"The sovereignless soul of one who slept beside you. Use to acquire many souls."

This is one of DS3 starting gifts and if used gives the player 2000 souls.(crappy)

But the interesting part is the description.
(Speculation)
It implies that as you win the throne and become the ruler of Drangleic you also got yourself a queen.(As Vendrick and possibly other rulers before did)

And possibly your wife(queen) was also someone from the dark, ence the name "Sovereignless Soul".

What you guys think?

I dont think tis a direct sequel. So this wouldn't make much sense in terms of drangleic.

Well, i'm pretty sure this item refers to a soul of a queen or a fallen/corrupted queen or a person married to someone who seek the throne.

They mentioned that Dark Souls 3 takes place in the same place as Dark Souls 2...it's just another era under another name..

Wow this is a huge info from the devs!!!

It also helps the theory that Drangleic was once Lordran too.

I hope the lore of DS3 is as good as DS1. DS2 lore was rly poor.

apparently there's plenty of lore in DS 3 that connects to the previous 2 games, i can't wait to see the lore videso that will pop up <3.

But sovereignless suggests someone without a monarch. When a monarch rekindles the flame they are consumed. This restarts the age of fire where people are actually able to die and not become hollow or undead. I believe the player character, and "one who slept beside you", is such a person as well. They died, unaffected by the curse that receeded for a time, but are brought back as undead by the bells of awakening.

no, the plot in darksouls 2 was bad, the lore is just as good. at least in SOTFS

To be honest i didn't like neither. the plot was about kings and whatnot. There was nothing mystic an misterious about it.(Unlike DS1 where you were always debating if there were gods or not and once you found these gods, you wondered if they were real or fake)

And the lore was just confusing instead of misterious. I still remember Devs saying Drangleic was Lordran, and then said it wasn't.
And then Heide's tower of flame resembled Anor London, But the geography didn't make any sense...

To me DS2 both plot and lore was all over the place... Still a good game on a general note.

When I heard about that I didn't think about it being the soul of your lover but rather the soul of the one that was buried right next to you.

sovereignless could just mean that there is no monarch ruling the land at the current time.

I realy thats not the case. If there is no monarch ruling the land, It's DS2 all over again...

I hope they put some inovation in the plot this time.
By Googles Definition, "a supreme ruler, especially a monarch.
synonyms: ruler, monarch, crowned head, head of state, potentate, suzerain, overlord, dynast, leader; More" is what Sovereign means. I feel it goes both ways for males and females as when you start off with either Gender, it's your destiny to link/unlink/Hollow Link it again. So I feel it more as you were married to some sort of royalty.

I think that it's not a crappy starting gift. You just have to know how to use it.

1. Start a new game and select it as your gift.
2. Before you fight Gundyr, fight the giant Crystal Lizard. You get an extra 1000 souls if you beat it before Gundyr, thus giving you 4000 instead of 3000.
3. Defeat Gundry. 3000 more souls.
4. Defeat Sword Master. 2000 souls.
5. Get the two embers in Firelink Shrine, sell them for another 2000 souls.
6. Pop your starting gift.

If you follow this method, you will have close to15,000 souls in the very start of the game. It lends it's hand in a very strong start. Don't underestimate it!
