Why does everyone STILL love Dark Souls 3 that much?
Obviously the art style is nice and the combat isn't that bad.
Most of the bosses I have seen are pretty interesting, innovative and to my mind are awesomely designed.
Dark Souls 3 is not a bad game but I don't think its awesome either.

The bosses are not really that hard to beat and overall the combat is kind of simple. I think the game gets hard because of 2 things:
1. Often you get swarmed by trash units (sometimes +1 good unit) and personally I think that this is just cheap game design.
2. The environment is annoying af like literally I have played Sekiro to 100% and Elden Ring to 100% and damn Dark Souls 3 environment is so damn annoying.
It is just one annoying area after another and then (spoiler) you unlock the next annoying area.

Why does Dark Souls 3 still have this kind of god tier rank in the community? I mean its decent but not THAT good anymore. From Software has beaten itself, pushed the bar further, learned from their mistakes while keeping the good stuff and to my mind Elden Ring is just a much better DS while Sekiro has the best Combat ever created. What is so special about DS3 that some people STILL say its THAT NO.1 game?

Thanks for your time and have a great day.

It rewards you gittin gud and knowing things with power and freedom, like beating the dancer at lvl 20 with a dark hand or going to ariandel at lvl 1 and getting a titanite slab just by running, or kicking the master naked guy so he doesn't kick ur ass...
Some games that doesn't matter and you have to put up with a lot of bs even if u are a pro gamer :(
So in dark souls 3 the more you know about it, the funnier it gets :9

Saying that ER is better than DS3 is like saying Ghostbusters remake is better than Ghostbusters
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thats an interesting point of view. Guess I will continue playing DS 3 then and maybe fall in love with the game too. Thank you.

I fundamentally disagree, I think fromsoft regressed with elden ring. I'd go as far as to say elden ring feels like a half baked dark souls 3 copy and pasted a few times to justify an open world.

I don't judge bosses on difficulty alone, I judge them on quality and for the most part Elden ring falls flat on it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ face with this. Is morgot a harder first boss than Gundyr? Sure. Does Gundyr act like a crack addict who has long ago abandoned petty notions such as having stamina or not randomly pulling out a 5 move for his combo only when you're about to try and punish straight from his ass? No. Is every boss in dark souls 3 absolutely stellar? Most assuredly not. Are 80% of them a normal enemy or rehash of a boss you already fought? Also no. Again, my point is that as far as boss quality goes I still think dark souls 3 takes the cake and for me this a large part of what dark souls is about.

"Often you are swarmed with trash units, Maybe 1 good unit." Are you sure about this? Are you ready to die on this hill if need be if you want to compare DS3 to Elden ring? Are you, as the youth say, dead ass right now?

"It's just one annoying area after another." Yeah farrons keep is most assuredly a dogwater area and I'm happy that fromsoft improved on this is Elde-oh wait...

To summarize and cap off with "what ds3 has that's so special" it's arguably still got the best bosses in the series, is the grand finale of the original dark souls story rather than it's own thing (some people will say the fan service was taken to far but the point remains that it still has the tie in that elden ring does not), and is not open world bloated with typical open world game design (fight erdtree avater X times, find chest under same ruin X times, fight same exact dragon X times, get rocks from mine X times, find spirit animals to unlock magic door X times, light towers to fight spirit deer boss X times, clear dungeon with big rolly machine level hazard x times, fight tree sentinel x times, clear out evergoal x times, etc.)

its fun but not better than ds1
in short most of us either have mid spec pc or potato, i'm still running GTX 950 today. yes we can run ELDEN RING but it will be stuck in 30 fps.

I just did another playthrough since like 2018 after having spent hundreds of hours on Elden Ring. It's not as good or better than Elden Ring but it is still a lot of fun to me. I'm at level 802 on playthrough 76 and being able to switch to any kind of playstyle on the fly makes the game fun, even though the game's weapons and spells are worse than ER's.

Graphics and mechanics wise its pretty much a direct upgrade to Dark Souls 1.
Dark Souls 2 was too experimental and that backfired on it, while DS1 is generally considered FromSoft's greatest project. And DS3 pretty much just took what DS1 did, polished it some extra, sped it up a little for more action and there ya go.
I think the only thing that's been objectively lost is a more interconnected world with all the shortcuts and what not, but its not that big of a deal.

ER... Still forming my thoughts on it.

you don't realize that all those things that you treat as objective truth are up for debate and also a matter of opinion and sentiment. it should be a very nuanced discussions as it is always about a multitude of small details mixed with larger scale aspects of a game and the way those two work together that make people like a game more than another. just saying sekiro has the best combat period is very inconsiderate on many levels in my opinion. as if there aren't a million different sides you can look at when you rate combat, also on a subjective level of course. it's also timing of release, what has come before for many and so much else. just because you have a certain opinion doesn't mean that it is the baseline truth brother. people feel different about things lool. also you say things like "annoying" which is NOT some objective critique with sound reasoning behind it, it's just some emotion you have towards something in the game and then you take that and hold it as absolute truth as if it is some strong argument.
For me dark souls 3 hits this good balance of speed of play. For me, bloodborne was a bit too fast, but previous dark souls, especially ds1 combat felt a bit slow and bulky. Ds3 hits that perfect inbetween spot for me where it's not too fast but not too slow either. Also in my opinion it has a lot of the best enemy designs in the series.
