Why isn't there a cloud save?
That seems like a HUGE oversight on the part of the devs to not use cloud saves. Particularly when people have steam deck and would like to use their save games.

Ds3 has never had it. make a manual back up save much better and safer. Cloud save on Elden Ring is dire and causes issues

just in case you are not sure

I'm one of those weird people that are less concerned about losing save files. Old enough gamer to where it's just split milk at the end of the day. However, I do want to play my game on steam deck.

So how does your answer help me with that?

I don't think anything will help. It's Bandi. We're talking the idiots who spent seven months fixing their servers.

Heya

I don't have my own Steam Deck but a friend of mine does and after lots of pain and suffering we managed to import the saves. The process is not the cleanest, I'm sure but it worked.

Start by exporting your DS3 saves on your PC and back them up on Gdrive. You'll need them again later. After that, what you'll want to do is add Windows to your Steam Deck, essentially allowing you to dual boot Windows and the Steam Deck's OS. This process is the most time consuming but it's what worked for us. There's lots of tutorials on Youtube on how to do it.

On the Windows Deck, you'll just wanna install Steam, DS3, your saves from Gdrive and a tool to import your saves. This process should be the same as it is on WIndows, just with the added salt in the wound that you're doing it on a Deck. Eventually, if all is done correctly, you SHOULD have a working Windows Deck, as well as all your stuff imported in DS3.

Whether you think this whole ordeal is worth it is up to you. I wish you the best of luck cause messing with hardware such as the Steam Deck in ways like these can be excruciating :lunar2019piginablanket:

I hope that steam would make a converter for people to manually convert their save files when there's no cloud option.

The thing that confuses me is that Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition had cloud saving, while DS2 and DS3 do not. I still have my original character from the first time I played DS1, while my saves for the other two games are gone.

Imagine paying 60 bucks for this game, and it doesn't even have basic quality of life like keyboard prompt nor cloud save.

That's exactly what happened. I played Dark Souls: Remastered, and Elden Ring. Both had a cloud save. So, when I was itching to play another From Software game for the challenge, I didn't think to even look at the cloud save option. I knew it ran well on Steam Deck and on PC and that was all that mattered to me at the time.

I didn't know it didn't have cloud save until now either... FS could feel like an overrated ass sometimes.

It's a good game. And while I'm not one to cry over a lost save file, I know a lot of other people do and for good reason. Especially with these very difficult games.
