How do you avoid the Jailers max HP draining attack?

Not exactly sure what they're called but they're in irithyll dungeon. How exactly do you prevent the max HP curse thing they do?

Fire, got it. But still, it didn't really go over how to avoid the HP draining attack. But I guess according to Urabe you just can't, lol.

you avoid it by staggering or killing em before they do it i guess

i just took them out ASAP. i use UGS so that may be a bit different from your build. then if my health bar was wayyy too low i ran off to a spot hidden until it went back to normal, drank some OJ and continued.

this vid by amir is the closest you will find to an answer OP.

because you will encounter them in different areas and in different situations, there is no single way to always avoid the HP drain. best you can do is to understand how their attack works on a game mechanic level, and use that knowledge to inform your gameplay.

I wish at the very least putting a shield up that covers your eyes or turning away would make the curse stop. That would have been cool. But it is what it is I guess.
