You can always explain to OP properly, should you wish.
LE: Or maybe it was just a sarcastic question. 🤷
E.g. I once offered 11 Pale Tongues to Rosaria (accidentally offered another tongue when I actually wanted to respec) and reached covenant rank 1 in NG, moved to NG+ and only 19 more tongues were needed to reach covenant rank 2. Didn't have to reach rank 1 again; didn't have to offer up 30 more tongues in total to reach rank 2.
However, if you manage to lose (e.g sell or discard) a covenant rank reward (e.g the man-grub staff) then my understanding is that you can't obtain it again for that character, as each character can only reach each covenant rank - and thus receive the reward - once per covenant.
As mentioned above, in DS3 there is no special condition (other than equipping a different covenant membership item) or penalty for switching between covenants as often as you like.
What one of your characters does, does not impact your other characters do.
ok, interesting. so as long as i keep all gained rewards in my inventory and dont touch them, and i have a certain rank with a covenant, i can just keep leveling the rank continuously through several playthroughs and obtain all the rewards neccessary for achievements that way. that's good. still nervous about actually going into a new game but i will think about doing that sooner than later then :D thanks
yes that is one good part as well. there are around 4 or 5 in the world in each playthrough if i remember correctly
They do carry over, that's what I was trying to say. But yes, if you do discard the reward, you just lose it. I guess the game knows you already got your stuff so you won't get another on the same character. If it's a weapon or a ring you can just take it from somebody but if it's a spell then you just have to do it all over again with another character.
