Dark Souls III or Elden Ring
Hello Guys, I am a player who has like 100 hrs in Sekiro and finished the entire game.
Now that Dark souls and Elden Ring are on sale, I would like to know your opinion on which is best to buy since I can only afford one of them. I would appreciate any reviews Thank alot!

I thoroughly enjoyed both games. In my opinion both are worth it:praisesun:. But Elden Ring takes the cake

I am for DS3, I also played Elden Ring but I find DS3 more enjoyable.

DS3. ER is good but exhausting and tends toward an arcade style of play. Big is not better

elden ring lets you legit jump, instead of the run and hop that can barely clear 2 inches and has zero verticality that all the dark souls have. .

DS3, Elden Ring tried open world but it would've been better without it, DS3 has way better bosses and is overall a lot more memorable. :bonfire2:

DS3 has better bosses in my opinion but I thought exploring the open world in elden ring was a blast. Both are fantastic games, and you're not gonna be disappointed no matter what you pick

ER is awesome.
DS3 is my fav DS.

I would go for ER since it has more build variety, imersive gameplay.
DS3 only beats ER on bosses

ER is better for single player experience.
DS3 is better for pvp.

Ignore the nonsense. DS3 is better on literally everything

i mean, obviously , there's gonna be a bias toward the game of whatever forum you are on.
if you are looking for difficulty, it seems many youtubers put elden ring as one of the easiest in the series, but then i'm trying to avoid spoilers, but i accidentally caught that ER has a lot more "gotchas" where the game just kills you with no warning, such as the ground just suddenly giving way and dropping you in a pit at one point and killing you with no warning or even any visual indicator that it might break, like no seams or cracks in the ground to clue you in.
. at least in the dlc for this game, the spots that break are obvious. . . and they don't kill you, they just drop you into the next area or into a fight or something

or
a boss that attacks you, as you are approaching the fog gate, the boss attacks you through the fog gate
or
an enemy walking around , seemingly unaware of you and even if you stand a mile away and try to snipe it and fire a ranged attack at it, it suddenly becomes aware and teleports behind you and pulls off a backstab, likely one shotting you

also, the same youtubers that say elden ring is one of the easiest also claim that Malenia is one of the hardest bosses in the entire series, except for the fact that elden ring has the most powerful summons that can trivialize the boss fights

Dark souls 3. Memorable bosses, and areas. Arguably better weapons, and definitely better fashion souls. As well as fights being harder to cheese. Elden ring has a issue with... Well... Rot, bleed, frost... All three are kind of busted and trivialize any fight beyond a tiny handful of them.

The only place that happens is in the very beginning of the game when you first wake up, and it's required for you to progress in the game if you managed to kill the boss there (which you're not supposed to be able to do yet). If you come back to that area later in the game then yeah it's a bit of a gotcha if you don't know about it, but you'll respawn right there and get your runes back.

a boss that attacks you, as you are approaching the fog gate, the boss attacks you through the fog gate
I've done ten playthroughs and never seen that, but if you aggro an enemy and you're close enough to the fog wall they can hit you through it.

an enemy walking around , seemingly unaware of you and even if you stand a mile away and try to snipe it and fire a ranged attack at it, it suddenly becomes aware and teleports behind you and pulls off a backstab, likely one shotting you

There's only one enemy I can think of that could do that and there's only one of them. It doesn't just suddenly become aware either, you have to hit it first or get close enough that it senses you. They don't backstab you either, but they do have a killer combo that is hard to avoid. There is another annoying teleporting enemy but they're trivial to kill with a beginner spell that any class can cast.

Personally I prefer Elden Ring's build variety, combat and open world/non-linear progression, but Dark Souls 3 has much better bosses and the open areas are better designed than most of Elden Ring's open areas, and most of the armor looks better. Overall I think you get more bang for your buck with Elden Ring though. Elden Ring will also have a gigantic DLC coming out soon, and personally I did not really like the Dark Souls 3 DLC's that much.

Elden Ring especially for longevity. You might also be the type who gets impressed easily by the scale and experience of traveling the lands between so that's a plus. I do like the areas in DS 3 but the fact that I'm always fighting for my life means I cannot appreciate the areas more lmao.
