Don't forget that phantoms can be hackers too

When I noticed him hacking and teleporting me to him I hit alt+f4 before anythign else could happen. Heard about hackers putting items in your inventory and other stuff. Not gonna risk my game and rather play offline

Be careful when playing offline in The Ringed City DLC. Offline mode doesn't protect you from being summoned as a player boss in the Church of Spears.

Lol. After setting your game to offline you need to go to main menu and restart, otherwise you're still online. It's not possible to get summoned when playing offline.

i'm not worried about getting "killed" by invaders, because i can still pick up my souls, but i don't want to get hacked. . .
i yesterday, i got iinvaded twice. first time i beat the invader, second time i got invaded in the area just after the pontiff boss and the invader appeared , we bowed and we started fighting and they had some greatsword that was doing splash damage, whenever i dodge rolled, i would still get hit by something and i could hear electric sounds and i healed up and was at full and then i caught the invader and stunlocked them with my frost sword and then suddenly a second invader spawned in and instakilled me from full health with a spell. .
but then, i don't want to miss out on any of the npc invaders. i guess i'll need to have a guide open and only ember up when i know there's an npc nearby. .

also, i thought you have to join the covenant and wear the covenant item to be summoned to that boss mean , that anyone anywhere can just be yanked into the boss fight during that dlc regardless of whether they have the item equipped or not?

You can get summoned as Spear of the Church whenever you partcipate in multiplayer activities in RC. This means when you place your summon sign for coop or PvP, also when you try to invade. Argo searches at first for covenant members in the right level range, when he can't find someone, he can summon a sunbro to be the boss.
If you don't like it to get summoned unprepared, you can put your black crystal on your short slot and bc out from boss room.

Yep I still get hackers, too. Many of them like to sit around farming PvP in the swamp though for some reason. I remember backstabbing someone for like 700 damage and it only took a tiny sliver of his health out...? Lol.

I've also encountered people who have infinite estus. I remember also being part of a summon as a Darkmoon Blade in Irithyll with another Sentinel, and three of us teamed up on someone who just endlessly used estus, and the fight dragged on and on.
